Remedial Massage
Remedial/deep tissue massage addresses pain and dysfunction in specific muscles and other soft tissues such as fascia. A variety of techniques are used to release and stimulate soft tissues to increase mobility and function. A session may include any of the following techniques; Trigger point therapy, neuromuscular therapy, muscle specific techniques, myofascial release, cupping and manual mobilisation. Remedial Massage with Dry Needling A powerful combination. Dry needling is a treatment that uses small acupuncture needles to release tight muscles aiming to permanently reduce pain and dysfunction. Dry needling can help to resolve difficult, nagging injuries and chronic conditions with the goal of restoring your optimal level of function. Dry needling is followed by remedial massage techniques to further encourage relaxation of the affected muscles and the over used and fatigued accessory muscles. Sports Massage Massage during training for an event or during a sports season is beneficial to address niggles that may become an injury, keeping on top of small seemingly insignificant aches and pains can ensure you perform at your best when competing. Close to "game day" the focus changes to more stimulating techniques. Post event massage calms and soothes overworked muscles and reduces recovery time. Focused detailed work combined with PNF stretching keeps your muscles performing at their best. Pregnancy Massage During pregnancy changes in a woman's body due to the loosening of ligaments and the growth of the baby can lead to discomfort. Safe, nurturing techniques and positioning on the massage table gently knead away areas of pain and promote relaxation. Relaxation Massage Relaxation massage is gentle and rhythmic, slow superficial techniques calm the mind and soothe the nervous system. If you need to relieve stress or feel like being pampered this is for you. Aromatherapy oils can be added to increase the relaxation experience. Manual Lymphatic Drainage Lymphatic drainage is a very specific style of manual therapy that addresses the lymphatic fluid and vessels. The little known lymphatic system plays a vital role in our immunity and circulation. It removes excess fluid from tissues, so is extremely beneficial in the prevention and management of oedema (swelling). The lymphatic fluid carries pathogens and viruses to the lymph nodes where specific immune system cells detect and kill them returning the filtered and purified fluid to the blood circulation to retain fluid balance. Manual Lymphatic drainage is very gentle as the lymphatic vessels are superficial and very delicate, it is also repetitive as several strokes at each location are required to move the lymph fluid, the combination of gentleness and repetitiveness invokes deep relaxation. Lymphatic drainage is extremely beneficial for the management of lymphoedema due to the treatment of cancer, I also teach self treatment techniques to enable the client to manage this debilitating side effect. Lymphatic drainage is also of benefit to following conditions and many more;
Reiki Reiki is a Japanese healing technique for stress reduction and relaxation, it is performed by the laying on of hands to enhance the life force energy, which when low or unbalanced is believed to contribute to ill health and stress. A Reiki treatment feels like a wonderful glowing radiance that flows through and around you, it treats the whole person including body, mind, emotions and spirit creating many beneficial effects that include relaxation and feelings of peace, security and wellbeing. Reiki is a simple, natural and safe method of spiritual healing and self improvement that everyone can learn, although it is spiritual in nature it is not a religion you don't need to believe in anything to receive and learn Reiki. Flower Essence Therapy First Light Flower Essences are the New Zealand's modern day equivalent of the Bach Flower remedies. They are natural vibrational remedies that support holistic wellbeing and restore balance and harmony. The 36 native flower essences focus on the personality, addressing the 36 different personality types and their expressions and predispositions that can express in a positive or negative manner. They also address disharmonious attitudes, emotions, mindsets, responses, moods and states that effect our relationship with others, how we respond to stress and ultimately effect our health. A consultation takes a few minutes as it is very easy to identify which aspects of our mindsets and responses we would like to change e.g not being able to say no, or reacting with anger and irritability which is out of proportion in a situation. Prepared blends such as Crisis Support (Rescue Remedy), Sleep Support, Exam And Study support are available as are personalized blends. |
